Admissions

Nursery Admissions

Children can join our nursery the term after their 3rd birthday. We often have a waiting list so please contact the school office for an application form well in advance.

School Admissions

We offer places for children from reception to year 6 and follow the Norfolk school's admission arrangements, these can be found on the Norfolk school's website at norfolk.gov.uk/admissions.

Our primary school’s admissions criteria for reception year are:

  • Children with an EHCP naming the school as preference.

  • Children in public care who are due to start school and live in the area served by the school.

  • Children who are due to start school, living in the area served by the school who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of their admission.

  • Children who are due to start school, living outside the area served by the school, who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of their admission.

  • Children who attend our nursery.

  • Children who are due to start school, living in the area served by the school who do not have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of their admission.

  • Children who are due to start school, living outside the area served by the school who do not have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of their admission.

Once children have been offered a place we will be in touch with details about transition arrangements.

All Broad Horizons Education Trust schools are part of the Norfolk County Council in-year coordination scheme.

Appeals Process

What to do if your child is not offered a place.

At Edith Cavell Academy & Nursery, we follow the Norfolk County Council appeals process.

If you are refused a place at any school you have the right to appeal. More information on this can be found on the Schools Admission Appeals page on the Norfolk County Council website.

What happens if a school gets too many applications?

When there are not enough places at a school for all the children who have applied, we use oversubscription rules to decide who will get in. These are published on Edith Cavell's school page on Norfolk Schoolfinder

You need to consider these rules to determine what priority your child will have for a place.
